Making much of Jesus in Toronto…

I had the great privilege of traveling to Toronto this past week to meet with some church planters who are intentionally being all about the gospel in the beautiful city that God has called them to serve.
What a great city.
I almost immediately connected with a couple from the Dominican Republic named Alex and Indhira Fleming. This amazing couple left their professional occupations to come to Toronto to make much of Jesus. Alex has passion and vision for his city, his desire is not only to reach the Spanish speakers who have moved to Toronto for work, he also wants to reach the young Canadian families that live in the Alders-good area of Toronto near where his church is meeting. He has partnered with a Canadian Church by using their facility to hopefully make a difference in the neighborhoods around the church building.
Alex told me that around 50% of Toronto’s residents come from other countries. This is phenomenal! The world is coming together in Toronto. It is one of the most culturally diverse places that I have ever visited and the need for healthy relational gospel-centered intentional churches in this beautiful city is paramount. By helping plant and equip churches in Toronto, we could easily see the gospel go out to nations. I want to encourage my Point family to get behind this gifted couple and start praying and lets help equip them as they do the Lord’s work.
Alex and Indira have a passion for young families and strong marriages. Their target is the folks within 10 minutes of their location which may not seem like that big of a task. Toronto is a city of 6.5 million so lots of people can live within a 10-minute window. Their task is actually kind of overwhelming.
They are launching “A Better City Church” this coming Sunday morning. Please make sure to stop by their Facebook page and like (by clicking the like) and encourage them by leaving a note (https://www.facebook.com/abcchurchto/) You can also check out their website (http://www.abettercitychurch.ca) for more information on their church.
Please join me in praying for this couple as they purposefully lead out in an international city that desperately needs Jesus. I am looking forward to my church www.thepointjax.com partnering with A Better City Church. We are planning on sending strategic mission teams next Summer (2017). It is relatively inexpensive flight so if you are looking for an international missions opportunity that will not hurt your bank account, this may be a trip for you. If you are interested contact The Point’s Mission Pastor Lamar Wingate and please pray for this couple.
I love you all!
