I should have said carcinogenic, rather than toxic. While the jury is still out in regard to glyphosate being harmful in that regard on it’s own, there are many studies suggesting that polyethoxylated tallow amine (POEA) (the wetting agent that allows Round Up to cling to it’s target) can have adverse effects with consistent exposure. The California EPA announced in March that they will be adding glyphosate to it’s list of carcinogenics. As for people drinking it in large quantities, I’d suggest taking that claim with the same grain of salt as you do with alarmist left-wing publications. Due to it’s acidic nature, ingestion may cause kidney and liver damage. Monsanto has very deep pockets to pay for cheerleaders and litigate for their products… as such, I’d encourage you to have an open mind.

Re: knotweed… from personal experience, regardless of what you choose to do re: herbicides, I’d recommend rototilling affected areas as you’re able to, and then running the soil through a screen sieve… even the tiniest piece of root has the potential to continue on to becoming another multiplying devil plant. It is the cockroach of the plant world, possibly even resistant to nuclear annihilation.
