15 Sept 2016 — Chipping away

The weather forecast had said that yesterday was the really warm day, and it’d be cooler today. Didn’t feel much different to me.
It was hot in the garage yesterday. It was hot in the loft today. Fortunately I wasn’t up there for long.
But it was hot in my rooms too.

I knew what I wanted from the loft.

Yes, a bunch of empty boxes. I have some idea of how everything is going to be after I’ve fully KonMari’ed, but it’s not 100% clear yet.
One thing I wanted to do though was pack away my old stereo. If that’s the right way to describe it these days.

I had that realisation about how much work was involved recently. A bunch of other boxes reminded me of that.
These are very much NOT empty.

(The clear boxes aren’t mine. Seems like I’m not the only one with clutter then…)

That realisation that there’s a lot to do keeps popping up, but I am getting there. One elephant bite at a time.

Anyway, This:

quite quickly became this:

Whether I end up keeping the stereo is up in the air. I’ll see what happens when I get to the big tidy.
Either way, having it boxed up means I can just stack it somewhere out of the way while I get on with everything else.

While I was packing the stereo up, I tested out another old set of speakers. I thought they’d been overdriven at some point, and couldn’t deal with much bass anymore.
That was confirmed, but they were still working fine at a medium volume. So much stuff. Still useful. To bin or not to bin. Either way, thank you Tandy speakers, you were a proper bargain.
This preparation phase is getting dangerous…

I don’t want to end up having had a sneak peak at everything while categorising just to end up keeping more than I should during the process proper.
Will just have to steel myself.

I went through the three drawers in the desk the stereo had been on. Loads of pens and pencils. Where have they all come from?
They’ve been in those drawers for years, how did I end up with them when I obviously don’t go through them very quickly.
I got a pad out and tested all the pens.

In the left bag are all the dead ones. In the right bag are the ones that work, plus staplers, whole punches, pencils, etc. They’ll go through the KonMari.

And some random other stuff that had been under the desk:

I will not miss having too much stuff.
