Thanks for the insight your shared about how you approach fiction. Your advice about focusing on small pieces reminds me of an essay I read by Anne Lamott, in which she describes the need sometimes to use a one-inch frame to focus a scene or experience, cut out all else but one tiny piece of the larger whole. How easily we forget what once worked so well for us as writers.
