A banal prediction…

“I expect that within a decade average users may even be able to customize the shape and color of their phone to their liking.”

Totally detracts from the rest of the article, making you wonder if you can trust any of these predictions… people will NOT in print general stuff at home, even if it were easy to do… the cost will never be the same. Only niche personalized items… Industry, on the other hand (including entrepreneurs wishing to earn a living), will have innumerable uses for 3d printers like this, but they will also have a lot of prerequisite design knowledge to be able to use them effectively.

3D printers will start to appear with pick and place subsystems, to be able to use this electronics printing capability, within two years. New software systems will be required to be able to program the assembly of these items. There will be a zillion new products available… but how will small companies be able to market them?
