Ad Blocking and the Future of the Web
Jeffrey Zeldman

How will it affect your site?

Really it won’t. We have lots of sites which we look after and typically they’re offering information, like local councils for example who want to publish contact information, agendas and minutes and are not intended to be money making in the first place.

But for the main site whose primary objective is to make money then, although we do still carry advertising, we’ve switched to selling some of our content. Using PayPal’s micro-payments tariff we can now sell content for £1 and keep 90p of that. That’s turning out to be a good earner for us and I can see more web site owners heading down this road from now on.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
