Did Jordan Peele get inspired by this Apple commercial when directing “Us”?

Let’s check the similarities. Spoiler Alert!

I hope you have seen Apple’s Homepod commercial, released back in early 2018. Like most of Spike Jonze’s work, we are talking about a masterpiece:

Now, I know at first glance the two look nothing like each other, but let me show you why these are basically the same film in different universes:

Two — out of this world women — interpret a professional dancer, that at some point will have to face her “demon”.

3. A place where they both share with their opposites one big thing, dancing:

4. At the end they both swap places, leaving her [original] opposite behind:

Don’t believe me? Pay [close] attention to this scene you may have missed from Apple’s commercial:

In the first frame we have original dancer to to left, follow her.

Good call, Jordan. Or should I say, Spike?
