Meet the NBA Shot Doctors

Another note on Lenard’s shot, he was shooting with both hands as you see both hands propel the ball forward. He has the biggest hands in the NBA — doesn’t need that like some smaller handed guys. The pic on the right, the off hand (his left) is support only. Beautiful.

On another note, I really appreciate this article as it’s helped me — finally, at 35, realize I was (am) left handed.

You and Redick are absolutely right with Simmons and Jordan respectively. I went up through high school being ‘ambidextrous.’ Despite having smaller hands — couldn’t palm a basketball — I could ‘cup’ and dunk with the left hand, not lose the ball driving with the left, and many other contortions on layups — but yet, my yet shot jump shot & free throws with the right hand. Layups ironically, with my right I looked a lot like Ben Simmons as you pointed out, but flipped — almost always using the left if at all possible. I was a right leg jumper too. The funny thing is in practice, I’d shoot set shots from 3 with my left hand and stroke a better percentage.

Again, appreciate you pointing all this out, so I won’t make the same mistake with my son(s).
