There are a number of Wheels of Life coaching tools used by life coaches as they work with their clients and try to get them to evaluate their lives in order to improve them. They vary in categories included but in general, look something like this:
* Family and friends
* Significant other
* Home environment
* Fun and leisure
* Personal growth
You can get a template for free from here: The Wheel of Life
These categories can be defined as you wish. For example, “Significant other” could be dating, romance, or the health of your marriage, depending on your marital status.
“Finances” could be budgeting, personal finance, investments, retirement fund and so on.
“Personal growth” could be body, mind, spirit, further education, life coaching, and so on. Draw a circle and create a wedge for each category you wish to use, or make a list of the categories and sub-categories.
Next, rank your satisfaction with each category and sub-category on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being least satisfied and 10 being most satisfied.
Review your answers and decide on what area you wish to work on first to bring it back into balance. Think of a SMART goal that would help you gauge your success in that area. Think of several action steps you could take that would help you achieve success. Review your progress as you work towards your goal.
When you’ve completed your first goal, move on to another area that needs attention and repeat the exercise. It will take time and effort, but the reward will be a life that is less stressed and more in balance.
One of the main things that can throw off our life balance is changes in our lives.
