Here’s The Problem With The Podcast Explosion

Podcasts have become big business. But where’s the quality control?

Since I started listening regularly to podcasts a couple of years ago my life has changed immeasurably for the better. It’s not just the proliferation of business improvement shows that are out there, but the quirky, specialist ones that appeal to me as well.

However, the podcast world is facing a problem. As there are more and more podcasts out there, it’s difficult to maintain any sort of quality control. What’s more — and this is the nub of the issue — if wannabe podcasters are all going to the same podcast schools, then the product is becoming pretty samey as well. I’ve noticed this is increasingly the case: lots of podcasts are following exactly the same formula. As a result, they can become a bit predictable, and even uninspiring.

The same is likely to happen to Webinars: as everyone tries to find the next online gold rush, the actual quality of content becomes merely so-so.

I’m going to compile a list of recommended podcasts, but in the meantime, feel free to send me your favourites.

We create all sorts of viral content for all sorts of people. If you’d like to have fun and work with us, email paul@handface.co.uk or call 00 44 7779 780 736.
