“The nice thing about teamwork is that you always have others on your side.”

-Margaret Carty

It was 12:24. Directly in front of me were three tasks to complete before an upcoming meeting. Each task was equally important. My head already swimming with information was beginning to ache. There was no chance of getting each task completed in the next six minutes before the meeting was scheduled to begin.

Task 1 was addressed with a quick phone call and a compromise. If I could check someone’s mailbox, the information I needed would be delivered via email by the time I returned to the phone. Task 1 complete: 12:25.

Task 2 was addressed with the help of a colleague. “Priscilla” knew I was trying to prepare for a meeting while juggling multiple tasks. She saw a window of opportunity and decided to open it. “Priscilla” asked if she could walk our new colleague up to the tech deparment for her Chromebook. The walk alone would’ve cost me ten minutes. “Priscilla” came through in the clutch as the clock turned 12:27.

Task 3 required extra copies being made. With three minutes on the clock, I was sure to get to our meeting on time. However, the copy machine had different plans. Cries of desparation followed when the screen read “paper jam - open Door 1.” A nearby secretary intervened and had the machine unjammed and my copies made by 12:29.

I walked into our meeting just as the clock turned 12:30 with ink-free sleeves and a big smile.

I can’t wait to get to work this year with our team. The building is full of positive vibes and I know I am never alone. There are many people on/at my side.
