I have worked in a place where there were four hour meetings about nothing.
I currently work in a places where we have 15 minutes max meetings and it’s true, I get more done and am highly productive but I can’t see doing it with the varied personalities under me.
Gary is talking about his meetings with his employees I think, and I can see the value in a CEO or managers doing this. If it were to dribble down to project managers though out the company, etc. I’d have a few questions.
How does the micro meeting effect different personalities of people?
What about the super relational, not needy, people who need to feel more connected to the mission? Or other co-workers?
What about the people who need more context?
The meeting may get done faster, an extra buck may be made, but I might argue that micro meetings could hurt overall morale with a feeling of disconnectedness.
I know what some will say, work is work not for socializing but work is social because people are social.
I guess, if you are going on a long journey, you could pack the minimal amount of food and supplies required so you could hike to your destination faster but you could also arrive malnourished and exhausted.
I don’ think it’s speed vs social, I think it’s speed + social and Gary certainly has the skills to pull this off.
