If I remember correctly the simd_float4x4 is supposed to be the transform of the anchor being added to the scene view. In the touches began we add an anchor to the sceneView but we need to calculate the correct transform such that our waypoint is rotated the correct number of degrees from North. So after you get the correct transform (the simd_float4x4) you can set the new anchor’s (for the waypoint) transform with the simd_float4x4.
