Given the context of your article, your use of PayPal is ironic as Peter Thiel was a PayPal founder who funded law suits to dismantle a news organization he believed shouldn’t exist, has written a book critical of diversity as a form of political correctness, and has been a supporter of President Trump. It wouldn’t be accurate to define Thiel’s accomplishments and motivations with these three points either.
Similarly the U.S. is a complicated place and it’s challenging to know all of the relationships which influence how public policy is made. The influence of lobbyists and campaign donors seems to be much more important than what’s in the best interest of the general public. Given these circumstances, it was not surprising that candidates who promised to do away with the status quo were elected nor that many citizens decided there were no people running they could place their confidence in and decided not to vote.
I hope more people invest more time in figuring out what they can do to support our country in moving forward. Pointing more fingers at each other won’t solve anything.
