The first three months of this year have been jam-packed with exciting news and developments. The Payger team started the year of 2019 full of energy to tackle any challenges facing us ahead during the crypto bear market. We attended Binance Blockchain Week in Singapore, Merchant Payment Ecosystem (MPE) and E-commerce Berlin Expo in Berlin, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and the Internet World Expo in Munich. We have been working hard on updating our token design and are planning to release the details in the second quarter of 2019. Furthermore, Payger has signed up a strategic agreement with one of the fastest growing PSP´s in the United States — Net Element.
Payger at Binance Blockchain Week in Singapore between 19 and 22 January
Payger team led by CEO Christoph Hering attended Binance Blockchain weeks where we met with the leading players in Asian blockchain and crypto scene- Binance, Huobi, to name a few. Binance Blockchain Week was one of the high-profile events happening in the region during the first month of 2019.
Merchant Payment Ecosystem 2019 and E-Commerce Berlin Expo 19–21 February
Mid-February, we traveled to Berlin to attend the most important European payment conference of the year focusing on future trends at the point of sale, online payments and mobile payments. Payger CEO Christoph Hering met with C-level executives from Mastercard, Norwegian Air, Paymentwall, Card Pay, Nuapay and many more discussing the implementation of blockchain payment processing services.
We also visited the one-day E-Commerce Berlin Expo to meet with Europes leading e-commerce platforms including Magento, Plentymarkets, Oxid, Shopify, Shopwhare, etc. There we talked about payment plug-ins, Crypto for payments and express checkout buttons. Also a big topic — customer support and payment chatbots.
Payger at Mobile World Congress 2019 25–28 February
End of February we meet up with Daniel, Mariona, and Paul from our Barcelona Team to visit the Mobile World Congress 2019 together. With over 107,000 visitors the MWC is the largest mobile conference in the world bringing together the latest innovations and leading-edge technology from more than 2,400 leading companies. On the conference, we meet with our Partners Michael and Steven from the Rivetz Team, talked with the Brave Browser about faster online payments, and got some fresh updates from Uphold. Of course the hottest topics this year has been 5G, foldable mobile phones and the presentation of the new Samsung S10 with a built-in crypto wallet. This is very exciting because the combination of Samsung Pay and cryptocurrencies could jumpstart the use of cryptocurrencies for POS payments in the near future. More on our strategy about POS in our latest blog post here.
Payger at the INTERNET WORLD EXPO 2019 12–13 March
Last week, the Payger team took part in the high-profile event in e-commerce INTERNET WORLD EXPO 2019 happening in our home city-Munich. It was a great event, and we got to meet numerous merchants looking to learn about Bitcoin payments as a settlement alternative.
We learned a lot about the current trends and gained significant insights into what online shops platforms and merchants need in the future. We received a lot of positive feedback and great interest in our Payger crypto payment services, and we firmly believe that the crypto winter will come to an end soon because we see steady growth in bitcoin payments transaction volume. Especially paying with stablecoins such as Tether, Circle USD, Gemini USD, PAX and Euro Stasis will gain massive momentum within the next two years and path the way for the next wave of crypto payments in e-commerce.
Payger Founder and CEO — Christoph Hering also shared his view on the future of crypto payment in e-commerce during an interview with Patrick Flender from the bitcoin vlog Networxvision that we will share with you as soon as possible.
Attending industry-leading events from payments, banking to e-commerce and blockchain is one of the main activities in our business development strategy. The Payger team has been traveling internationally to meet with hundreds of merchants and partners worldwide over the last years to establish strategic partnerships which enable us to enter specific markets and grow globally.
Payger token to be put in use
Nevertheless, our team has been working hard with external consultants and lawyers during the past weeks to design the token economy for Payger tokens so that tokens can be put in use.
The token design is being finalized. We expect to release the first details by the end of quarter II-2019.
