Porting LegendasPt.net to WordPress

I’ll begin by porting LegendasPt from an antique CMS; abandoned for years, probably insecure, troublesome to extend and pretty much using the standard template, dated from Rock Age of the Internet.

This is a subtitle website hosting over 50k subtitles (~5Gb) for movies or TV shows, mostly in portuguese, it allows user registration, commenting and voting built with PHCDownload (the website is gone for years).

Performance wise it works fairly well as the cheapest DigitalOcean VPS can handle it with Apache and APC, WordPress should add some weight possibly being handled by a new installation based on Nginx.

Why WordPress?

Have plugins work for me, of course! Secure it with updated code base.

Integration with GDrive/S3: to offload the server from hosting thousands of files, eventually, allowing me to wikify the subtitles, providing the edit url for each file to be opened on Drive.

S3 is also an alternative hardly costing more than a few euros a year.

Considering that the website is pretty inactive and subtitle websites are loosing demand for the likes Wareztuga Popcorn Time saving money and moving to a cheaper host will be great.

Security: the CMS currently in use hasn't been updated for years, the website has been hacked once actually. Having 99% of the code base updatad by the community will be a relief. Possibly adding security plugins.

New Features: Ajax voting, facebook anonymous login/comments, SEO.
