Secrets of Highly Successful Millionaires: 10 Tactics That Keep Them on Top
What do highly successful millionaires know that you don’t? How did they make it? What do they do that you aren’t doing?
I am going to let you in on some of the answers to these questions with 10 tactics that everyone can use. Much of this is not taught. Why? well…that is a discussion in itself.
Let’s get on with it! Here are 10 millionaire tactics that will give you an unfair advantage. Freedom baby!
1) Produce & Stop Consuming
While most people don’t actively think of themselves in terms of a consumer vs. producer, the majority of people have consumer behaviors. Some of these are: watching television, playing video games, watching and reading video and internet content and so on. Successful millionaires don’t make fortunes updating Facebook statuses, playing video games, watching sitcoms or shopping for the latest gadgets or fashion trends, like most people.
According to a report published by James E. Short at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, it is estimated that by 2015 Americans will consume both traditional and digital media an average of approximately 15 and a half hours per day.
In consumption mode you will never have time to build the life of your dreams. Breaking free of a consumer mindset is key to your success unless you want to become a slave to someone else's. Instead, look outside of your wants and needs for ways in which you can help others and add value to their life. Start thinking, creating and delivering value that serves the needs of others and you will become a Producer instead of a Consumer. Make room in your mind and your life so that you can be receptive to all of the opportunities around you.
2) Forget the Money
When money is your main focus you will end up on the side of the “takers” of the world and get scammed by get-rich-quick schemes or fall prey to quick money making schemes that fail to deliver. Instead, serve the best interests of those you want to impress. The laws of the universe dictate that you create and deliver real value to others if you expect the same in return. If you serve 10 people your wealth will correlate with your service to those 10 people. Serve 1 million people and you wealth will mirror this. Serve 1 billion people and… you get the gist. Think about the companies whose products you consume and you will find the correlation to this. Google, McDonalds, Disney, Twitter, Facebook, your local hometown store, etc.
Add value to peoples lives and they will gladly open their wallets in exchange for your product or service. Once you have conquered this and are actively serving clients, you will find that if you continue to create and deliver your wealth will explode. Add value first, the money follows.
3) Get Your A*s Moving
You don’t need to take another course, read another book or blog. Don’t look for another video that you hope will push you to getting your a*s in gear and started. Stop the mental masturbation and make a decision to start working towards your goals. Commit to accomplishing one or two things a day that move you closer to your end goal. Successful millionaires thrive on taking daily action and they don’t sit idle or create feel good distractions while waiting for the perfect moment.

You know what you have to do? You have to create the perfect time, and the perfect opportunity, and the perfect situation.”

4) Everything Around You Started as Someones Idea
We don’t often think about this fact. This keyboard I am typing on, your computer screen, mobile device or tablet are all someone else's idea. What about the clothes you have on or the shoes you are wearing? The electricity and the Internet that supply your connection to this message? My point is that everything around us started as someones idea and they grew that idea into something tangible. You don’t have to be Benjamin Franklin or Albert Einstein, anyone can do this. Ask yourself these questions:
- Are there products I can import or create?
- Are there services people really need or want that would make a difference in someones life?
- How cool would it be for someone to deliver you groceries so you can avoid a trip to the grocery store?
- What video series could I produce that teaches a valuable subject that others want to learn?
- What is that thing around the house or the office that has been bugging me and I wish there were a better way?
Perhaps you have said to yourself at work, I don’t know why we do things this way because I know that our customers would prefer we did X”. Start listening to everyone around you, including yourself and look for pain points where you can add value. Don’t freeze up because you may not have first hand knowledge of a subject. Go research it until you have more information than the average person and get started.
5) Build it & They Will Come?
Sounds cliché? It is. Validate the need for your product or service by interacting with the people you believe you can serve. You will be surprised at much you will learn, simply by interacting with your target audience. Be genuine and put their needs first and you will be handed endless ideas for ways in which you can help. Keep your your eyes and ears open because these are phenomenal opportunities for generating incremental income. Listen, interact, absorb and act on it! Quickly.
6) Find Your Audience & Deliver
Now that you know what your target audience wants, you need to find out where the majority hang out. Get this wrong and you will waste a lot of time, money and energy. The great news here is that this is easier than ever. Some tools you can use are Facebook Ads, Facebook Groups, LinkedIn, Google, Forums, Twitter, etc. As for groups and forums, establish yourself as an authority by looking for ways to add value to these online communities. Dive in and contribute. You have something to say that others need to know about and you owe it to them to put it our there.
When you provide value to others, they will automatically feel as if they need to reciprocate. As human beings this is in our DNA. I’ll share an example: Ever been at a bar or a restaurant and a friend says: “I got the bill” and you are like…wait, no its ok, I got it. They insist so you let them pay but you still feel like you owe them. This is all because they gave you something of value and you feel that you owe them something in return.
Go ahead and give away for free (add value) and your customers will reciprocate and that starts with their email and follows with them giving you their money. In most cases it is safe to give the what and charge for the how. Some people will be able to take the free information (the what) and create their own process and plan to get to the end result. Others will be willing to pay you for the how. A lot of work goes into the how for so many things and most people just don’t want to bother with it or don’t have the time. I don’t want the ingredients to make ice cream but I will gladly buy the finished product. That said, there are definitely people out there that love to make the ice cream from scatch. It all comes down to preference.
7) Beat the Sun
Most successful people consistently wake-up early. They understand that getting a head start to their day positions them to achieve much more than the average person. There is something magical about waking up before the sun rises and experiencing the peace, tranquility and focus that a rested mind and body bring about. Waking up between 5:00am— 6:00am gives you the chance to work on stuff that you typically fail to find time for. Use these 2–3 hours to to exercise, meditate, pray, read and plan your day before you have a chance to get distracted with everything else. If you do these 5 things you will have done more by 9:00am than the average person does in a day or even a week. Make this a habit and you will be unstoppable.
8) Create a Mastermind
The concept of a mastermind was introduced in 1937 with Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich and he describes it as: The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony. A Mastermind is critical to quickly advancing your business by giving you access to other people with differing perspectives and experiences. A Mastermind also brings about a significant amount of accountability because you are accountable to the group. To be successful, a mastermind of 6–10 members is recommended. The greater the number, the wider the range of experiences and knowledge that you will be able to garner from. On the flipside, too many members can make your meetings too long and unproductive.

Jump out of bed, drink a glass of water to rehydrate your body and meditate before anything else. Meditation helps you increase your focus, reduce stress, and prevent common health ailments. Studies have suggested that meditation gives you more more creativity & compassion, better focus & memory and less anxiety & stress.
Contrary to popular belief mediation doesn’t have to be linked to a larger religious or spiritual path.

9) Don’t Go at It Alone!
Don’t be afraid to seek out those that have achieved the level of success that you want to achieve. Email them (providing value applies here too), call them, go to their conference, sign up for their class! Let’s say you are interested in podcasting, then you should probably seek out the top podcasters in the industry. Do they have courses where they mentor or teach you everything you need to get started, etc.? This is a quick way to shortcut the learning curve. I am a big proponent of paying to learn as long as you have vetted who you are learning from and the content will significantly increase your knowledge.
Think about what it took someone that is already successful to reach that level of success. No one celebrates the in-between, but everyone celebrates & glorifies the end result. If you are just getting started why not leverage someone else's knowledge.
Another good tactic here is to send a thank you note letting this person know that you are a fan of their work and telling them a story of how you have applied their work in your life. You don’t want to fake this, you want to be genuine and should use this when reaching out to someone you admire.
How often do you pause to appreciate what you have in life? We tend to take just about everything for granted. Get outside of your head and experience all of the greatness and abundance that surrounds you.
Show gratitude everyday, there is so much to be grateful for. When you are grateful for what you have and the great privilege of being able to experience life, you will become a magnet for great things. You get what you give.

This seems like a silly exercise at first but it is transformational. I personally log what I am grateful for in a daily journal. This may work for you as well.
