Peervuu is a community of professionals focused on helping each other succeed at work and in careers. We have hundreds of mentors from big and small companies offering their advice, and most do it for free! If you are curious about specific careers, how to get into a career, how to improve your job interviewing skills, how to lead or manage a team, how to grow your startup, or even just need some help on a work task — you should try Peervuu! It’s easy, let’s show you how.
🖐️ Step 1: Create an Account (it’s free)
Creating an account is easy and free. Go to Peervuu and select the “Sign Up” button.
Then, input your email, password you want to use, name, and hit “Sign up!”
Once you’ve created an account, you should get a welcome email.
Please make sure your email did not go to spam or you will not get emails notifying you when your mentor sends you a video or a message.
🔍 Step 2: Search for a Mentor
Once logged in, you will be taken to the search page where you can view mentors one by one or you can search for specific type of mentors.
To search for mentors, select the “Search for mentors” button at the top of the page. You can search by role, or if you know a mentor on Peervuu already, you can type in their name.
If you need to refine your search select the “Filter” button.
Once you’ve found the mentor you are interested in. Select the card to go to their mentoring profile.
⏳️ Step 3: Book Your Mentor!
Once on your mentor’s profile, select the service you want. If the service says “Book for Free” or “First session is free” it means that your mentor is offering their first 30 minutes for free. A lot of our mentors have placed their services for free to help give you some mentorship! (And don’t worry if the category you chose isn’t exactly what you want. Once you start a conversation, you can ask your question and they should be able to address it.)
For every free mentoring session, Peervuu charges a $3 service fee. However, for our new users, we are waiving the fee for you!! 🏷️ Select the “Have a coupon code?” link and input the code: WaiveServiceFee
Make sure it is exactly the same as shown above — all one word and capital letters for every word.
👋 Step 4: Start the Conversation!!
After you book the conversation, you will be taken to your conversation page where you can begin talking with your mentor.
Start a conversation by sending them a video telling them — who you are, what you need help with, why you chose them and what you are expecting from them.
Here is another article — Getting Mentored on Peervuu — that will give you a lot more tips and show you the many tools you can use on Peervuu to have an effective conversation with your mentor.
Now, let’s show you how to send a video. First, select the blue button with the camera icon on the bottom right.
You will see a pop up asking you to give Peervuu permission to access your camera and microphone. Select “Allow.”
Once you give permission, you will be able to see yourself in the video camera. Press “record” and share your message.
Once you are done recording, press the “stop recording” button and it will then give you a chance to play the video, retry recording or upload your video. If you are happy with the video, select “upload!”
💬 Step 5: Have the Conversation
Once your video is sent, your mentor will get an email notifying them you have booked time with them and sent them a video. They will then respond with another video and you will be notified via email.
When you get notified of a new video, log back into Peervuu and go to your conversation to reply. To do this, select the notification icon and it will guide you back to the conversation. (Another way to do this is to select the message icon.)
Once you listen to their video, continue the conversation by asking more questions. You will both then respond back and forth with videos and messages until your conversation minutes are up!
Peervuu keeps track of the length of each video sent and when they add up to the allotted booking time, as seen in the top right timer, the conversation is over.
⭐️ Last Step: Rate and Review the Conversation
Once the conversation is over, we highly encourage you to rate and review your conversation. This will give others an insight to how helpful the mentor was and help the mentor get more mentees.
To do this, select the bottom “Rate Mentor” button.
