WEB DESIGN TRENDS 2017 — AN OBVIOUS LIST

Being up to date with the current design trends has become vital for professional website designers. Every client wants their website to be up to date with regards to the current trending design techniques and styles. It is unacceptable to have an out dated or old school design in today’s custom design industry. Here are a few design trends that we hope to see in 2017

  • MOBILE-FIRST DESIGN:

Mobile phones have officially become the primary devices to browse the internet. Many businesses are now adapting a mobile first design approach which is a process that focuses on design and optimization for small screen devices first and then moving on to bigger screen devices. Professional website designers, website development agencies and web design service providers nowadays all emphasize to start with designing your website for mobile devices first and then moving on to desktops. It has become increasingly crucial for professional website designers, website development agencies and web design service providers to focus on eliminating unnecessary content as smartphones have a significantly smaller screen size compared to tablets ad desktop. This limits the viewing range for the audience and forces the developers to focus a lot more on the core content of the web site.

  • OPEN COMPOSITIONS:

In the past years, web designers focused a lot in keeping their designs symmetrical and within a frame. But in recent trends the use of open composition has become widely in use. Designs now tend to seem as if they are spilling out of the frame. Suspended elements giving the illusion of being somewhere off screen have gained a lot of popularity because they give a sense of movement and a bigger space for the mind to ponder on. We should expect to see more websites with open compositions in 2017.

  • ASYMMETRY:

Similar to the idea of open compositions, it has also become a common trend to do away with symmetry and proportion. Some website designers find it “old school” to keep things in proportion and symmetry. Recent trends have shown the use of asymmetrical graphics which have had a greater impact on the viewers. It won’t be a surprise to see more and more asymmetrical images and graphic to be implemented in upcoming websites.

  • ADVANCED ANIMATION:

The platforms for creating animation for websites are getting extensively more advanced which in return has allowed professional designers to slowly move away from static imagery and develop more complex animations for websites. For the brands it’s always an advantage to have some sort of storytelling incorporated in the design for their websites as it tends to give more personality to the business. Animation is also a great tool to create a sense of interaction for the customers which helps to keep their interest alive.

  • BOLDER TYPOGRAPHY:

The extensive use of geometric typefaces, serif typefaces and monospaced (typewriter) typefaces has become a fast growing trend nowadays. Companies require more in your face content to stand out from the rest. The use of creative typography has become as important as the imagery or the content for a website and professional website designers are constantly improving their skills on typography. 2017 should be churning out some very interesting forms of typography and creative use of typefaces.

It is very difficult to address all trending techniques and styles being used in the design world as the numbers are in the thousands. Having said that, it will undoubtedly very interesting to see what trends are going to continue in 2017 from 2016 and which ones are not.
