I Was A Pirate

At three, I was unstoppable. Plaid pants? Check. Saddle shoes? Check. Red tricycle? Check.
Eye patch? Check. Wait, what?
I wore an eye patch when I was little. I had a lazy eye. The doctor instructed me to wear a patch over my right eye to strengthen my left eye. The goal was to have my lazy eye work harder to communicate with my brain.
That patch didn’t stop me!
I cycled around the neighborhood with speed! I got extra hugs and comfort from my family! Eye patches were cool! Being three was exciting!
I no longer wear an eye patch, plaid pants, or saddle shoes. I no longer ride a red tricycle.
Whoa. Where has all of the excitement gone?
