Time to Make New Memories

Our family goes camping every summer, to the same spot. It’s what we do.
I wanted to recreate some of the sweet moments from the past. (I love photos taken with the same people, same locations, same poses, but years apart.)
C’mon guys! Sit on the log and hold a stick. Just like you did seven years ago!
Let’s go to the dock and take a stair-step picture!
Eye rolls. My daughter was like, Mom, we don’t need to take the same old pictures.
She was right. Time for new.

We jumped in the lake, floated on inner tubes, and watched Otis swim. New fun. New photos. New moments. New memories.

This summer, my oldest son didn’t join us. He’s 18 now, got a new job, and couldn’t take time off.
What?! We have been taking him camping every year since he was three. It won’t be the same.
Same lake. Same trees. Same s’mores.
But, we are not the same.
With family photos in frames throughout our home, I am reminded of the sweet moments from the past.
I now realize they cannot be recreated.

I also realize the importance of embracing the present.
