The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster by Darren Hardy
“If you don’t sell, it’s not the product that’s wrong, it’s you.” — Estee Lauder
This is a quick and dirty review. I read the book in one sitting. Couldn’t put it down. In the first part, despite fashionable management theories on superior products, top management teams, and sky high margins, sales are the MOST critical component of business success.
Everything starts with sales. The enterprise is sustained by sales, and everything starts and ends with sales. Period. Counter-intuitively, stop selling. Listen to your customers. Shut up. Take the order. “Sales is filling a customer’s perceived need, not your need to sell something.”
The next part discusses hiring and leadership, which I blazed through but will re-attack.
The last part of The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster expertly addresses productivity, down to the bare essentials, and wraps up with some motivational themes. I found the book both informative and inspirational. I’ve read a lot of books on entrepreneurship. This is by far the best one. I’ve immediately begun implementing the lessons into my daily routine.
