“ We live in a world where digital products are inherently undervalued relative to other products. We will shell out $5 for a pumpkin spice latte in a heartbeat, but the second we have to pay $1.99 for an app, we begin to conduct cost-benefit analysis as if we were buying a damn house.”
Hmm, the problem here is once I pay my $5 for a coffee its mine. Starbucks isn’t going take $5 out of my account every month until I remember to go through the over-complicated steps to unsubscribe. People don’t have trust in app purchases like they do with their local coffee empire. And its the fault of App marketers who’ve betrayed that trust in the past ten years. Best of luck to Medium, but when it does happen I won’t just jump in, I’ll try and make an informed decision about where my money’s going.
