#disrupteducation

I was working hard setting up a plan for a new business class the board of education had just approved. I was setting up meetings with all the stakeholders to start to organize what needed to be done for the class. We would have to redesign a classroom, order curriculum, write, and sell the class to the students and counselors.
Meanwhile, students and parents were getting really excited about the new class. They loved the idea of entrepreneurial, student-centered learning. Momentum was gaining fast regarding this class.
I was a person known to my superiors as a disruption of normal education.
I was sitting in my office one afternoon between classes and my boss came in. She only comes in to talk with me if she wants something or I did something wrong. This time I evidently did something wrong. She told me I was overstepping my bounds in my planning by setting up meetings and connecting with decision makers in the school. I was being told to be mediocre. I was being told to slow down. I was being marginalized. That day she said I was a person known to my superiors as a disruption of normal education.
Tinker Hatfield once said “A professor once told me that if people don’t either love or hate your work, you haven’t done anything.”
According to this quote… I am doing something! This is why I started the #disrupteduction movement. I am a disruptor and proud of it. Never stop questioning education.
