Real friends

How many of us? How many of us are real friends
To real friends, ’til the reel end

Legitimate writers don’t start legitimate stories with Kanye West quotes.

Lucky for all six of you and the one of me, I’m not a legitimate writer and this isn’t a legitimate story. Deal with it.

But let’s take a look at the words from Mr. West for a moment, lyrics from the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted “Real Friends” from The Life of Pablo. Sure, people love to talk, tweet and text about their woe-is-me lives. The my-friends-don’t-ask-me-to-do-things-with-them, the I’m-the-nice-guy-but-always-gets-screwed-over. Friendzoned.

For those people. This is for you.

Instead of focusing on all the things not happening, ask yourself (or rap to yourself) if you’re truly being a real friend to all your real friends. The answer might surprise you.

In this particular time in space and time, we need more real friends and less bickering. Sure, there are hundreds of topics that need to be scrutinized. Reporting what is truly the news is not the same as making drama out of something that is not.

Are you being a real friend to a real friend?
