Great discussion. I have always defined myself as a writer. Writing is my craft which I have plied as a journalist, speechwriter and even as a teacher. Now, I am attempting my hand at blogging. However, until reading this I never critically thought that there was a difference per se between the two. I would say though that many bloggers would agree with your point of view, but would challenge you on your idea of audience engagement all but for one reason. In the blogging sphere, building an audience that would allow for consistent engagement and not sporadic comments here and there is a real issue for many. And as a result, bloggers have become today’s virtual writers by default. We can start as writers, but we must be aware of the time that it takes to become true bloggers. Thanks!
