We created Pexels five years ago with the simple goal of making it easier for people to find free photos online.

Over the past few years, Pexels has evolved into something more: a creative commons where photographers can connect and share their work with people from all over the world. Today, our community has grown to more than 10 million visitors across across the globe, with over 1 million photos and videos uploaded to the platform.

We want to thank everyone who’s ever uploaded or downloaded Pexels photos and videos. Pexels wouldn’t be the vibrant community it is today without you.

We’re excited to share the next stage of our journey with you today. Pexels has joined the Canva family. That’s right, Pexels is now a part of the most loved online design platform!

Pexels has always sought to empower creatives to take their work to the next level using the best free photography in the world. Canva’s motto is similar: they aim to make design and publishing more accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Their incredible platform is used by over 15 million people a month across 190 countries, and they aren’t stopping there. So far more than 1 billion presentations, social media posts, and other graphics have been created with Canva. We are thrilled to be working alongside a company whose mission and ethos is so similar to ours.

Pexels will continue to operate independently and function as it does today. With the support of Canva, we will thrive — allowing us to support our talented photography community even more, grow our library of world-class imagery, and simplify the search for your next free photo.
