Phantom Galaxies Beta — ‘Cohort 1: Friends of Zorran’ Now Live!

The Phantom Galaxies Beta has begun! The first cohort of players, holders of the ‘Zorran’s Favour’ NFT, can now launch into the Beta stage of Phantom Galaxies!

We are thrilled to embark on this essential next phase of our project, using all the feedback and lessons from our Alpha to hone and build upon the Phantom Galaxies experience.

Cohort 1 will treat players to a retelling of the Ensign’s earliest Alpha adventures, enhanced with new and updated features. These will include completely revised Starfighter classes, with new abilities and powerful Ultimates. Networked multiplayer will allow you to meet other players aboard Halberd-001 and greet your fellow Rangers with the new emote wheel.

Our latest update includes a brand new Heat system to replace Energy. With each action you take in the game, your Heat level charges up, but be careful not to overheat or you’ll pay the price. Hitting the sweet spot, on the other hand, will give you an Ultimate boost. With the Heat system, we really wanted to better capture the fantasy of being a Starfighter pilot. Part of this fantasy is allowing players to push their limits, to go for the critical takedown at the risk of overheating and taking fatal damage. Keep in mind that each decision you make will factor into how you take on enemies in the game. This is just the beginning of many new features to come, so stay tuned for more updates.

But the most momentous addition will be the introduction of randomised player Avatars with optimised art styles — allowing you to experience a Ranger adventure which is your very own!

The participation and feedback we gather from our elite Ranger echelons during this stage will be invaluable, as we craft the future of the game. Thank you for coming along on the journey, and welcome to the next phase of Phantom Galaxies!

HOW TO ACCESS THE BETA:

1️⃣ Ensure you own a wallet containing a ‘Zorran’s Favour’ NFT. These NFTs have been awarded to active members of Discord who have either won one of our community contests or have demonstrated exceptional community behaviour! Like all NFTs they can be traded and purchased through marketplaces such as OpenSea.

2️⃣ Go to the download page of our official website and connect with your wallet.

3️⃣ Generate and copy your beta access code, and download the Phantom Galaxies Launcher (Windows) from the download page. MacOS is currently not available for this release but will be coming later.

4️⃣ Run the installer (depending on your Windows settings, you may have to ‘Run as administrator’). If prompted with a ‘Windows protected your PC’ prompt, please select ‘More info’ -> ‘Run anyway’. If prompted with a ‘Windows Firewall’ prompt, please select ‘Allow access’.

5️⃣ The installer will download the game. If prompted with a ‘Windows change notice’ prompt, please select ‘Allow’. Once installed, select ‘Play Phantom Galaxies’.

6️⃣ On load, you will be prompted to enter your unique access code. Please paste your access code into the prompt and hit enter.

7️⃣ Experience the world of Phantom Galaxies!

Fixes & Tips:

🌌 Starfighters have had a massive overhaul, with new missile, technical, melee and super abilities, weapons and more!

🌌 Experience a sample of the Generative Avatars — re-generate until you find a look you like.

🌌 Meet other players aboard Halberd-001. Communicate by holding ‘G’ to bring up the new Emote Wheel.

🌌 Refreshed visuals in the HUD, Shops and Menus.

🌌 Game state and all saves are now stored server-side. Your story progress is now tied to your Generative Avatar.

🌌 To save time across multiple playthroughs, you can now skip the tutorial. However, playing it on your first run to learn changes and updates is highly recommended. Please note that work on the tutorial is ongoing.
