Facebook Goes Full “Black Mirror”: How Facebook Is Making Membership a Prerequisite to Everyday…
Jason Ditzian

First, I completely agree Facebook is trying to become a mandatory part of everyone’s lives, and this is definitely an annoying trend for those of us that like our social interactions offline. Second, as soon as Getaround needs more customers they’ll likely open their account generation model to other services, and if they really want to take over they’ll need to create their own email based accounts. This doesn’t help you in the immediate, but any software company that wants to make real money won’t make itself strictly an extension of Facebook.

Honestly, I’m surprised that Getaround didn’t absorb the old service entirely and keep all the customers. I’d like to see how many they lost because their transition wasn’t smooth.
