Hi Ashok — ITVC is a great solution. And so is Direct Publisher. Great points! Here’s the difference, each serves its own niche: ITVC runs $50/month for a commercial channel ($600/year), in addition you need a Content Delivery Network to serve your content (Starting at $300+year). There’s setup time and labor involved and you also have to make the updates yourself.
With Direct Publisher, it’s free to launch, but you still need an MRSS or JSON feed, that needs to be hosted, and you still need CDN. And once again, you’re still setting it up and making the updates yourself.
With Advergent, you’re paying 1 price for setup, a much lower price monthly for content delivery and updates. All the updates are made for you. So there’s no work on your part, except for submitting your changes, as-needed.
So far as monetization, depending on who you use, there may be charges involved in setting that up, too. If you’re using RAF, you’re probably not going to earn much.
It’s really a matter of preference — paying a little more up-front and having all the work done for you, or paying less and doing more of it yourself. Not everyone has the time, patience or inclination to use ITVC, Direct Publisher or any other program — they just want their channels up fast and as inexpensively as possible.
If you had to do the math on how much labor cost you’ve put into your own channel, how much value would you place on your time?
Thanks for the response!
