No kidding. There is a small, fringe element within the conservative movement that feels strongly about these issues. Most Republican voters support or are indifferent on affordable access to birth-control. This is is why pollsters ask convoluted sounding questions like “Does birth control influence your happiness?” and “Do you personally benefit from affordable birth control?” Policymakers are trying to find the breaking-point where they can placate the small minority which strongly opposes tax-payer funded birth control without alienating the rest of their base.
