Unraveling the Hyperloop hype
Almost 4 years back, technopreneur Elon Musk revealed an open source white paper detailing a long distance transportation system with the ability of transfer goods as well as people at speeds of around 700 miles per hour, and called it Hyperloop. The idea caught the attention of various startups looking to transform the current transportations systems. So essentially, Musk inspired an ecosystem of hyperloop startups.
Since then, a bunch of companies have been trying their hand at hyperloop-like transport system. One of them, probably the most notable amongst all, Hyperloop One has recently completed its second phase of testing, clocking a speed of almost 200 mph. While Hyperloop One seems to be the leading the race with the only company to have an operational system ready, Elon Musk has just come into the fray with rumors indicating his plans to build his own hyperloop.
Hyperloop One’s achievement can be considered a milestone in modern transportation, as it gets even closer to its target speed for its planned pilot in Dubai. What will be interesting to see if Musk really gets on with his plans. Musk, who pioneered the concept might have an edge over the others. But overall, this will only make the competition stronger and expedite the advancement of hyperloop industry.
