it actually really has! That’s one thing I’ve really taken away from therapy — talking about things out loud lessens their power over you and talking things out with a third party (aka not you talking to yourself) really helps you see the bigger picture. Things might be as bad as they really are, but there’s always something, a way out, to feel a little lighter. All of the kind notes I’ve received today, even from strangers on the billfold, have brightened my day and taken some of the weight off my shoulders.
good for you for talking about it to people, it really will help. When things are just stuck in a loop in our heads it takes up so much mental energy. not to mention the energy of pretending everything’s ok. there’s so much relief in just saying, “I feel bad. things aren’t going well for me right now”
