It this happens you will get rid of cables, sure.

But you will have to buy more expensive and fragile headphones, lose hi fidelity audio, and most importantly, contribute even more to the demise of the environment.

Not only wireless headphones are more complex compared to traditional wired headphones (which increases emissions when manufacturing them), they have a much more limited lifespan since they need batteries. Also the energy consumption on both the phone and the headphones is much higher than simply connecting a cable.

Energy consumption is the first source of emissions globally.

Convenience vs the planet. We know who will win, don’t we?
