you may have received 51% of the vote, but that was after affirming to the electorate that you were “100% behind Corbyn as leader”. a lot, I mean A LOT of people who put their faith in you are very upset and feel betrayed by your sudden conversion to 100% Owen Smith. your favourite response recently is “we’ll have to agree to disagree” without justifying or refuting the real and genuine criticisms of Smith. I do congratulate you on your professional image, your posed pictures and selfies always look good. Honestly, as my councillor,I don’t care about your evening strolls or your new haircut, if you cant resist posting all these? then set up seperate social media accounts that are not titled “cllr”- publish as many new haircut selfies as you want (it really isn’t some endearing quirk)but not on “cllr Warren Ward”. You may think this criticism is harsh or too personal, well I did not publish a self congratulatory piece about how great a job I’m doing- which comes across as a well planned piece of the jigsaw towards “professional career politician”- another tick in the box, another page turned in the “I want to be an MP” handbook.
Slick and professional is in the past- it has now become inseparable from Blairism, a busted flush of ideology and presentation- image over principles. Hubris is not an attractive trait- especially as I’m still waiting -4 weeks later for you to get back to me about my local issue- the absence of your “contact in the council” is no real excuse. You are a Councillor- you are our “contact in the council” nobody has such a sole responsibility, if someone who knows is absent, find someone else who isn’t!
