Piet Casier Biography
For those who know me, this biography may be a bit redundant. However, Medium only allows for a small bio to accompany my profile, so I thought it would be relevant to expand upon my life experiences for you all.
I have a variety of interests, but I tend to focus most on gardening, travel and topics pertaining to the medical community. Hope this helps you learn a bit more about me!
Piet Casier is enthralled with all aspects of the medical field, but he especially loves the topic of mental health because it is a factor for most diseases and ailments. He began his medical career in Belgium in 1985, and has had the pleasure of working in a number of countries since then. Most recently, Sweden. Patient care is by far his favorite part of the job. Piet Casier also advocates for proper nutrition and exercise, which is some of the best preventative medicine around.
Piet works as a Locum General Practitioner. Those from countries like the United States would refer to that as a Primary Care Physician or Family Doctor. Locum means that he works on a temporary basis. You might see a locum GP if your usual doctor is on leave. Piet Casier enjoys this work because it allows him to enjoy some of my other passions, such as travel.
While he does travel often for work, he also sees the value in traveling for enjoyment. Traveling shouldn’t be stressful. It should be an unforgettable experience that leaves you craving more.
One of Piet Casier’s favorite travel destinations is North Cape in Norway. The midnight sun phenomenon is beautiful and their summer solstice is something that should be experienced by everyone at least once. Piet has taken pilot lessons in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, relaxed in Southern California and traveled throughout Europe. He feels blessed to have seen so much of the world, and is always open for recommendations.
Another of Piet’s passions is gardening. He first became interested while visiting Ramona, California. Piet had a hypothesis that some of the plants near his window were dying and suspected it was because they were being watered too often. This prompted him to investigate the many aspects of gardening.
Piet Casier especially loves succulents and other plants that can survive a drought. He is amazed by their resilience and the simple complexity of irrigation systems. Another reason Piet loves gardening is that it is a fantastic workout.
Music
When Piet Casier isn’t busy with his other activities, he loves to spend time singing. In fact, Piet met his wife, Leen in a university choir. They continue to sing in choirs to this day, and Piet also has a history of playing the piano.
