An Ode to the iPod Classic

People used to have to “work” to listen to music. Back in the pre-Spotify days I would semi-regularly wait ~hour for a speculative download of a random leak on the basis of some cool album art or an interesting band name. Even if on a first listen I didn’t really like it, I’d feel obligated to go back to it. Many of the artists I still follow today, peak-Pitchfork exposure a few years in the rearview mirror, are because of those hard-won listens.
That being said I’ve learned to love streaming services… With a little discipline you can discover SO much more SO much easier.
