This is exactly the point I try to make every day when hearing assumptions even though they spur from “hard” data (though I think that most of these assumptions were confirmed by data…).

People look weirdly at me saying: “But…I saw this in that data! You’re one to talk about it!”.

The other fun fact is that people talk about data as if in direct latin translation: a given, completely unattached from reality, bias and error. Sometimes even when they are the ones collecting them and later admitting that some records are not present, some are like that because it’s a very particular case and so on.

I don’t know if the ones who are not in the profession and would like to enter it know that having to deal with this tsuff on a daily basis is the norm and not an exception.

Being zen is one of the best skills one can possess as a data scientist!
