What is the 33 & 1/3 ratio twitter formula?

I have been on twitter for many years using the platform for many different purposes. It is certainly true that twitter is way more flexible than most other social media. A healthy basic formula to your tweets would be a third original tweets, a third conversational tweets and a third retweets.

It is after all social media so at mentioning other folks certainly contribute to your popularity, and who does not want to be popular? Nobody opens a profile to be alone on a social island.

Because of twitter’s flexibility the thirty three and a third rule can be bent. The funny and wise folks over at favstar.fm for example put more focus on retweets, likes and original tweets and often prefer not to intefere with this reading experience by cluttering their timelines with conversations. However as a general safe measure the rule is tried and tested.
