INTRODUCTION

Skin darkening is a very basic problem that takes place during the winter season. When we first meet someone, our hands are the first to be noticed while shaking hands with others, helping others, etc. Hands are also a source of non-verbal behavior which helps us communicate and understand the thoughts and feelings of others but most of us neglect them and don’t take proper care of them especially during the winters. Constant sun exposure in winters has a major impact on the look and feel of your skin so how do we deal with skincare? The basic reasons why the skin turns dark in winter compared to that in summers is –

Here are some home remedies for whitening your hands in winters-

1. TOMATOES

Tomatoes are the antioxidants and are often used to lighten the complexion and also protect the skin from damage. It contains Vitamin C which improves the collagen and elastin production in the skin, making skin supple and firm. Mix the tomato with milk and apply it on your hands with a cotton ball. Leave this for about 40 minutes. Apply it once a week for the desired results.

2. YOGURT AND LEMON

Lemon has a high amount of VITAMIN C and antioxidants which encourages new cell growth that consequently results in brighter and lighter skin tone. Apply lemon water for 15–20 minutes and daily apply it to see the difference in the skin tone. Yogurt contains lactic acid, which keeps the skin moisturized and less dry. Make it a habit of rubbing yogurt on your hands before taking the bath. Leave it for 5–7 minutes and then wash it with lukewarm water. To make it effective you can also add some lemon water to it.

3. COCONUT OIL

Coconut oil contains nourishing Vitamin E and healthy fats, which help to make skin smoother. It helps in cleansing skin and removing dark spots. Take 1 tbsp. Of coconut oil by rubbing gently between your hands two times a day.

4. GRAM FLOUR

Gram flour (Besan pack) is a magical ingredient commonly found in the kitchen, evens the skin tone, and helps out in maintaining the pH balance of your skin. Mix gram flour with rose water and honey to create the paste and apply it on your hands for 15 minutes and wash it with lukewarm water to see the whiten skin complexion.

5. ALOE VERA GEL

Aloe Vera helps to lighten dark spots. It helps to provide oxygen to dead skin cells, increasing the strength and absorption in skin tissue. Aloe Vera also kills bacteria. Apply it daily on your skin and gently massage. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

6. ORANGES

Oranges contain VITAMIN C and amazing bleaching properties which make it ideal to use in whitening the skin. Oranges are great for achieving healthier supple skin. Grind the orange peel and mix raw milk to make the paste. Apply it on your hands for 20 minutes then wash off.

7. TURMERIC

Turmeric contains melamine resulting in skin whitening, and Vitamin B6; it energizes new and sound cell creation. Mix turmeric with milk, apply even layer on your hands and wash it after 60 minutes.

8. COFFEE

Coffee is rich in antioxidants and caffeine hence is used for skin whitening. Applying coffee directly to your skin helps to decrease the sunspots, redness and, fine lines. Mix coffee powder with olive oil and apply the paste for 15 minutes repeat it for 3 weeks.

9. MILK

Raw milk is one of the most effective home remedies to whiten dark hands and feet. It penetrates directly into the skin and cleanses thoroughly. Soak a cotton pad in raw milk and dab it onto your hands, leave it for 15 minutes and wash it with lukewarm water, repeat this regularly to get the desired results.

10. CARROT AND HONEY

Carrot is an excellent source of VITAMIN A, B, C and, E and is rich in antioxidants. Honey is a natural moisturizer and along with carrots makes an excellent combination for treating dull and dry skin. Mix them well so that it gets mixed thoroughly. Apply on hands and wash off after 15 minutes with cold water.

SOME OTHER TIPS

· Maintain a good and healthy diet, avoid drinking and smoking.

· Avoid stress as it causes damage to the skin more than you know.

· Take care of your skin from sun exposure and city pollution by wearing gloves or full sleeves.

Hence these remedies are super simple, and great for weekend skin pamper sessions although a bit slow but will show good results if used consistently at least once or twice a week.
