How to Get Read on Medium (As Told by Someone Who Doesn’t)

- Adopt controversial opinions not your own.
- Create a fake account and start arguments with yourself in the comment section. Make sure the fake account is 1) simple-minded and ill-informed so that you can easily best them in an intellectual duel, and 2) highly abusive, so as to create sympathy for yourself.
- Write a bitter, impassioned article about how no one ever reads/recommends your writing.
- Write an article about “How to Get Read on Medium”. Hope that no one notices you have fewer followers than appendages.
- Use hash tags that have nothing to do with what you’ve written to trick people into clicking on your article. Once they are there, tactic #2 or #3 should do the trick.
- Swear a lot, and write in caps it when you do. I don’t know why this would work but judging from the most-read stories on Medium, it seems to.
- Star Wars. Anything Star Wars. Heck, even I’ll read it.
