Did you read her entire piece? It’s about identifying with Black people because she has coarse hair and her mom liked soul music. Good god. Every person in the world will likely have some DNA traceable to Africa. It is where life originated. I’m talking about the rest of the piece. I found it self-indulgent, misguided, trite, and a whole host of other unpleasant things. Again: these are my opinions.
