We woke up to the sound of little girl giggles outside the door of the bedroom where we made love for the first time. We’d met less than 24 hours before, after weeks of long-distance phone calls, and endless texts.

I looked at Him. Smiled. I wasn’t expecting that, I said.

We kissed, got out of bed, hugged. Kissed some more. Went downstairs to the beautiful day.

My adorable little nieces were just as taken with Him. Kids know goodness.

He went on the trampoline with them, hopping around the two angels, making them as happy as He made me.

Later, I took Him to the water; told Him stories about learning to swim with horseshoe crabs in the Bay. He needed to be by the Water; He looked happy against that blue background.

We shared more of each other with each other; started to fall in love.

Wasn’t expecting that.
