We found data for the New Orleans metro area, and by that measurement this number is a bit high — though there has certainly been growth. Between February 2009 and January 2016, we found an increase of employment in metro New Orleans of 28,400 jobs. The Recovery Act almost certainly helped matters, though it’s worth noting that the increase in jobs has been slow and steady in recent years, so exactly how much to credit the act isn’t clear.
