How articulately Kejriwal has protected his transport minister Gopal Rai in the auto rickshaw permit scam can be easily judged by his manipulation of facts. The entire episode has proved that Kejriwal’s team of politicians are just like other politicians. Kejriwal promised Delhi people to eliminate corruption from the state but nothing has been achieved on the front. Moreover, in one year the people have only seen the scams in the AAP government.

About auto rickshaw permit scam

As per the information, over 10,000 permits were to be issued. The sources reveal that on the directions of AAP’s transport minister Gopal Rai, it was pre planned to issue a single permit on average bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The concerned department headed by Rai issued 932 permits. Each permit was sold for Rs 1 lakh and AAP earned Rs 100 crore. It would be reached till Rs 1000 crore if someone from inside would not have leaked the information.

How Kejriwal manipulated the issue and saved the party?

When the information was leaked then the clever Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal told that he had received the messages from auto rickshaw drivers regarding the issue. Kejriwal befooled the public by saying that AAP has detected the fraud. The truth is that the information was leaked in the ministry and Kejriwal projected the information in a manner so that one could easily believe him.

AK saves his minister Gopal Rai, suspends three officials of the department

The Delhi government suspended three officials of the transport department, including a senior bureaucrat, in the matter. The officials S Roy Biswas, Deputy Commissioner, Manish Puri, Inspector, and Anil Yadav, a clerkwere placed under suspension immediately after the high-level meeting. However, Kejriwal did not ask his minister Gopal Rai to step down. The transport minister was protected by him. Moreover, the old friend of Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia saved the minister saying that the matter would be handed to CBI. Kejriwal government had scrapped 900 auto rickshaw permits immediately when the news came into the limelight of media. The step was taken to save the image of the government. Moreover, it was just an eye wash.

Opposition demands Kejriwal’s resignation

The rival parties and opposition, Bhartiya Janata party worked had protested against Kejriwal at his official residence. The party workers demanded that Kejriwal should submit his resignation on moral grounds and an inquiry should be initiated against the transport minister Gopal Rai. The workers also burnt the effigy of Kejriwal and shouted slogans against both of them. Nothing has been done so far in this regard by Kejriwal government in the case. The matter was not handed over to an independent investigative agency.
