Shameless Kejriwal offers reward to rape convict

Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP government took u turn when the juvenile convicted in brutal Nirbhaya gang rape case offered assistance by a onetime financial grant of Rs 10,000 and a sewing machine so that he could run his own shop.

As per the information received, the department of Women and Chief Development of Delhi government has been planning to help the juvenile so that he could earn his bread. The victim Nirbhaya, on December 16, 2012, was brutally assaulted by six persons, including the juvenile, in a moving bus in south Delhi. She had later succumbed to her injuries in a Singapore hospital plunging the country into grief.

The plan of AAP’s government to rehabilitate the juvenile rapist was badly criticised by people asking if it was the right step by Delhi government.

A report prepared by the concerned department of Delhi government justified the help offered to the convict. The newspapers published the content of the report which mentioned, “The juvenile in Nirbhaya case needs to be supported financially jointly by his parents and by the Delhi government. The rape convict would further need help to sustain a business for an initial period of at least six months and meet expenses such renting a shop and procuring tailoring material, a signboard for his shop, receipt books and hangers.”

The juvenile was released on December 20, 2015 after completing his full three-year sentence behind bar.

Kejriwal faces ire on Twitter

When the decision of the government was published in the newspaper a person had put very bad remarks for Kejriwal. It was depicted the frustration of people for Kejriwal who was honouring a criminal. The remark was deleted and an inquiry marked to look into the matter. AK faced a lot of criticism for step taken for the juvenile rapist.

Feeling of people on Kejriwal government’s approach

A resident of Sarojini Nagar, Bimla Devi said, “He promised us to provide women safety and now he is taking u turn by offering help to the criminal. He is a complete non sense.”

Swati Vardhan, a student of Delhi said, “We thought that AAP would work for the betterment of women and moreover, the party would make a city safer for women but we regret why we casted our vote to such a leader who is rehabilitating criminals.”

A matter of shame for Kejriwal

A reaction of BJP leader published in the newspaper stated, “This is a matter of great shame that Kejriwal government has decided to reward the juvenile for brutalising that girl who fought so bravely and became the symbol for women against atrocities on them. It is a slap on the women of the nation and on Nirbhaya’s parents.”
