“Taking security cover and roaming around with security guards is totally against my principles. I am a common man and I want to remain an Aam Aadmi. Every one is born with a mission, be a common man or a special one. So, as long as his mission is incomplete, no one can kill him”

- Arvind Kejriwal

Z-plus security for ‘Aam Adami’ CM

This statement echoed public rallies of Kejriwal in the run-up to assembly election before reigning Delhi government for the first time. His bubble of austerity and ending VIP culture burst as soon as he came to power in 2014, as he promptly accepted Z category security offered to him by Delhi police as per the protocol.

Arvind Kejriwal enjoys round the clock Z-plus security cover

The security cover was withdrawn immediately after he resigned from the CM’s post, but was reinstated within hours after his party won the Delhi Assembly elections.

Kejriwal’s security cover

As per the information from Delhi police, more than 50 police personnel, including trained commandos equipped with high-tech weapons are deployed in Kejriwal’s security cover.

Kejriwal’s security was increased from Z to Z-plus following intelligence inputs that keep him under serious threats. As a ‘Z+’ category protectee, Kejriwal gets security cover from commandos armed with sophisticated MP5 guns and modern communication gadgets.

As per the protocol, Kejriwal’s official vehicle is always protected by an escort vehicle and a pilot vehicle whenever he is out on the streets. Each security vehicle has at least three security personnel while three personal security officers (PSOs) remain associated with him round-the-clock. Security arrangement is also provided at the official residence of the chief minister, which comprises either one head constable and four constables or two head constables and eight constables,” the officer said.

Round the clock security during 49-days

During the 49 days rule of Kejriwal government, he enjoyed round the cock security cover. Among the police personnel, few of them were very close to him and had always been with him (in plain clothes), guarding & escorting him all the time. It is relevant to note that a particular police officer named Dinesh was providing security to Kejriwal right from day one of assuming office.

Kejriwal’s austerity and refusal of security was nothing but propaganda to falsely project him as “aam aadmi”. The reality is that he has world-class security and he is being guarded round the clock.
