Captain is fighting a battle against his own party colleagues

“Nurturing his ego and with an aim to prove his point, Captain Amarinder Singh has waged a war against his own party colleagues. After locking horns with party high command for demanding ouster of his predecessor, former President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), Partap Singh Bajwa, Captain Amarinder Singh made sure that Bir Davinder was sacked from the party.”

It could be because of his royal family background or desperation to satisfy ego, Captain Amarinder went all out to make sure that Partap Singh Bajwa was removed from the post of PPCC President. He even threatened party high command to leave the Congress party if Bajwa was not removed from the post.

Succumbing to pressure, Congress president gave up in front of Captain’s unreasonable demand and Captain was even projected as chief ministerial candidate in the state. But there is no end to Captain’s arbitrary moves and he seems to have made it a habit to put high command in fix.

Captain’s stand on Rajya Sabha nomination

Rahul Gandhi had convinced Pratap Singh Bajwa to pave way for Captain in lie of nomination for upper house. Going by his promise, Congress high command nominated Partap Singh Bajwa and Shamsher Singh Dullo to Rajya Sabha. But this move didn’t go well with captain and he had put his weight behind his close confidante Sunil Jhakhar and Singer turned politician Hans Raj Hans.

It is noteworthy that the party high command had announced induction of Hans Raj Hans to upper House but changed the decision in the eleventh hour due to stiff competition faced from within the party.

Punjab unit of Congress is suffering from severe crisis of leadership and in the absence of any credible face they are relying on captain. But captain with his own style of functioning is putting Congress high command in a fix on a regular basis.
