Congress goes AAP way; holds Coffee with Captain

“Ahead of assembly polls in Punjab, Congress is leaving no stone unturned to make it mark. Taking a cue from AAP’s much hyped dinner politics, Congress has rolled out ‘Coffee with Captain’ campaign in state.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been known to indulge in cheap antics to grab limelight and now ahead of polls in Punjab; the grand old party of country, Congress is going the AAP way and has starting indulging in cheap & hollow tactics of organising meal with political leader. A good political leader is one who can understand the problems faced by people by reaching out to masses but instead of walking an extra mile such antics make only headlines.

Royal audience for ‘Maharaja’

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President, Captain Amarinder Singh, who is popularly known as ‘Maharaja Sahib’, is the member of royal family of Patiala. Taking a cue from AAP’s dinner politics, Congress has initiated much hyped ‘Coffee with Captain’ campaign from Amritsar. But unlike AAP’s events, which are aimed at raising money, Captain’s coffee party was held for a select audience.

While anybody can enjoy a meal with Kejriwal if they are willing to shell out a huge price, access to Captain is allowed to only his coterie. While anybody could have a cup of coffee with Kejriwal for Rs 20,000, only the selected few had the privilege to have to a cup of coffee with him. The criteria for inviting the guests are not known to anybody.]

Coffee with ‘Maharaja’ a political stunt

It must be noted here that Captain Amarinder is totally inaccessible to party cadre. There is no audience for him and party workers fail to meet up with him despite repeated reminders. In such context, Captain is seen hosting coffee parties for select audience. If he is really concerned about welfare of citizen of Punjab then he should make an effort to reach out to them to understand the problems faced by them.
