Why Captain in Punjab?

It is no more a hidden secret that the Grand old Party, Congress had to announce the name of Captain Amarinder Singh in Punjab as front face for the party. Two of the reasons behind this announcement were:
· Captain’s popularity in Punjab, and
· Captain’s threat to create separate party
In addition to this, Congress was not ready for any kind of conflicts among its top cadre, before the upcoming Punjab assembly polls.
Captain’s own party leaders and workers lost faith in him way back. Internal rift among Congress was seen from the time when Amarinder Singh’s name got finalized. The decision was not warmly accepted by Jagmeet Brar and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, who raised eyebrows on Amarinder Singh’s selection and further accused him of facing the charges of corruption and black money.
It would not be wrong to say that although Amarinder Singh has emerged as eminent leader, his regime has been full of controversies which can be a reason of worry for the Congress Party. Witnessing in-fight between Congress leaders, even political market analysts started showing concern about the future of Congress.
Now, Captain welcoming turncoats
For the past few months, it was seen that out of desperation of being into power, Capt has gone all out to catch hold of discontented leaders and made them join Congress.
The new bait of Capt Amarinder Singh has created a mix feeling among party leaders as well as the opposition parties. Some of the party leaders’ even said that out of obsession of being into power, Capt is welcoming turncoats’ into the Grand old party, Congress.
Congress-turned-Akali leaders Deepinder Dhillon and Harinder Mann took a U-turn and returned to Congress after being promised tickets. Not to forget is Sufi singer-turned-politician Hans Raj Hans, who prospered to the Congress list of Rajya Sabha nominees, only to be dropped unceremoniously.
Congress responsible for creating ‘unrest’ in Punjab
Congress was in true sense responsible for militancy in Punjab, where thousands of innocent people were killed and the state’s economy was derailed badly.
It’s high time for Captain to give up his autocratic style of working and indulge in some constructive work with his party leaders for the betterment of the state.
